Ha! Bloody hilarious!
At least no one was watching...
Moo and George - while it is funny, the poor bugger was in hospital as he suffered internal bleeding. The comments on Youtube seem to suggest and put the blame on the corporate sponsor banner which is on the road just before the finishing line, so it's all capitalism's fault!
That's all they showed on the news here right after it happened. I guess he really got hurt, otherwise it would've been a scream. He almost didn't make it across the line to finish first -- enough of his body was across, tho. Can you imagine running 26 miles, coming in first but not winning? Would probably want to top yourself...
Marc - it happened to me. I did one of those triathlons. Swam for a mile, cycled for 20 miles and then, after running 23 miles of the marathon, saw a pub and had a pint. Could only finish in third place, so got a medal anyway!! ;-)
