I loved Jefferson Airplane... but this was a mangling and mashing and vandalising of one of their greatest numbers. Back then outdoor sound systems were dreadful. Today they are wonderful. What is past is not always the best.
Yeah, maybe outdoor systems were not as sophisticated back then (& I was there) but that's part of the appeal. Sometimes gets too slick sounding & overproduced these days. TNR: If you haven't yet, check out the new Patti Smith covers cd (called '12') on which she does a fucking amazing version of 'White Rabbit' that even Gracie would embrace. BTW, it'll knock you out who all she covers on that -- for starters she does Hendrix's 'Are You Experienced'....look it up & see the other tracks on it. Think you'll be impressed....
YP - how could you do anything but love JA, they were tremendous. And, come on, let's forgive the sound system, it was '69 for goodness sake!
TNR - not best band ever, but very very good.
Marc - you were there? But you don't look a day over 35 ;-)) I've heard great things about taht Patti Smith album so I think a purchase is definitely necessary.

Its the acid man. Jorma was just working up to going onstage at that point. It's why it is called "morning mania music." Its a new dawn!
