Bloody good second 8 Mr Reidski, rather inspirational, well I can't really say about the LWIII on account of not having heard it, but going along with your regular impeccable taste I expect it's rather good too.

Jane is clearly very much in tune with your goodself.

So now I have to do my own substitute list, no thinking about it just served straight up.

1. When An Old Cricketer Leaves the Crease: Roy Harper
2. Sign On My Mind: Dr Strangely Strange
3. Move On Up: Curtis Mayfield
4. Blues For Ceacescu: Fatima Mansions
5. Twisted And Bent: Trashcan Sinatras
6. Battle Of Evermore: Led Zeppelin
7. What Difference Does It Make: The Smiths
8. Hole: Violet

There done it!

This substitute DID list is excellent. And I think that "Another Girl, Another Planet" probably qualifies as one of the best records of that period if not ever... ah shucks how did these not make the first cut??!!

You know the more I look at this list the more I think "I should have chosen all of those"!

Actually that should have read Violet: Hole since I had the song first and the band second on all the others.

jane - knew you would and I love you.

cookie - i'll take a guess here: you're in your mid-20s. Go and listen to this stuff, it's fuckin brilliant!

jim - like your choices. Harper is, of course, a genius and, as for Fatima mansions, well, that I didn't put them in either list makes me a very stupid person.

lisa - you really are such a nice person.

jim - yeh, we knew!

jim - I always assume that when you write in the evening you will be pished!

Ardeelee - you've only told me 973,782 times, so I don't see any reason to stop just yet!

And now that I think of it, what a selection this is. I would be doing lots of dancing, crying, pogoing and laughing - I don't suppose anyone wants to join me on this desert island? Who made the rule that one had to be on their own anyway?

OK, I'm big enough to come out and admit it:

I'm the only person in the world in who doesn't get why everyone rants and raves about how great the Only Ones were.

Whooh!!! The relief of coming out and saying that out loud, that's a weight off my chest. ;-)
