Pissing In The Wind *

Surprise surprise - some people thought this whole exercise was worthwhile cos the police were only doing their job. I think it's a fucking disgrace and ask how you would feel if you were targeted, raided and shot as a result of lies and malicious gossip? Nothing found, no evidence, simply fucking nothing ....

After the tube station shooting of that Brazilian guy, you'd have thought the idiots would have only gone in with great vigour when they were 100% certain they had real terrorists in their sights. I know it's not easy fighting terrorism but sometimes our police look like "Fred Carno's circus" - to use an unusual turn of phrase once favoured by my old mother.

i have to disagree.

the old bill are doing an incredibally difficult job and they have a split second to decide wheter to shoot or not. id much rather them shoot and then find out they got the wrong guy then not shoot and let a dangerous terrorist get away.

i also find it utterly abhorrent that the radical muslim groups with that almighty prick Galloway as well the media are criticising the polices Armed response policy. why werent they shouting as loud when some others were shot?

So, cookie, they go in and shoot your mum - doing another great job, are they? It seems that people are supporting them with this line of "well, it's better to shoot and make a mistake rather than let a terrorist get away" because those saying such things are white and those getting shot and killed aren't.
There are no "but what ifs" in this case much as there were no "but what ifs" in the Menendes case - the police have fucked up big time and didn't do their job properly, in fact, didn't do their job at all.

ah, i never said they were doing a 'great' job, i said they were doing a difficult job!

and i still find it distasteful that theres only a furore over the police shooting muslim/asian people when theres next to no uproar over them shooting white people or black people. or for that matter the disproportionatly large number of people that die in police custody. i could reel off 3 or 4 cases right now but the 2 that stick in my craw most are that white guy who was shot for having a length of woood in a bag and the black guy who was shot because his lighter was shaped like a gun. never mind it was tiny tho!

there was no front page outcry, no demands for the Met Police commisioner to resign. aside from some speeches from the families there ere no demonstrations. if anything the media tried denigrating these guys. i recall the media were particularly evil to the black feller painting him as a drug dealer.

i just cant help feeling a tad angry when i see how the treatment of those contrasts with how these guys are portrayed. and i STILL cant see how the police couldve got it that wrong this time.

im going to quit while im ahead tho, i could go on but i dont wanna build up a head of steam!

Here's my tuppence. I think that the police are doing a tough job, and I think if we are criticizing anyone it should be the Blair/Bush axis for creating such a climate of fear that all you have to do to get someone shot is whisper "hey, that guy's making a chemical bomb." Excellent, I save that one for the next time i miss out on a promotion.
