Oh no! That is so unfair. I reckon it could really make a difference.
Though don't ask me to what it might make a difference.
If the Jacobites hadnt attempted this futile abortive march in 1746 the chances are they would have been ready, fresh and properly organised the next morning and would probably have cuffed the English at Culloden. As it as they were a tired bedraggled disorganised bunch and got cuffed. (Argentine 78 comes to mind).
Therefore this seemingly irrelevant night march was pivotal in changing subsequent Scottish, British and World history.
